Have you ever wondered what it looks like when a 13-year-old dog gets his first ice cream cone? Wonder no more!
Jet is my senior black lab. He was born on Christmas day, 2001 in a Cape Fear, North Carolina puppy mill.
Like many puppy mill puppies, Jet has been plagued with poor health throughout his life. From hip dysplasia and allergies to arthritis and cancer, we have tackled every card he has been dealt and he has always been a trooper.
After having a cancerous growth removed from his tail in late 2013 and being declared cancer free (yay!) you can imagine my devastation when, in 2015, we found another lump. We took a trip to our most amazing vet and after some tests and a lot of poking and prodding, Jet was declared to still be CANCER FREE! If this wasn’t cause for celebration, I don’t know what is! So, throwing caution to the wind and saying a little prayer that Jet’s tummy would play nicely, we stopped by our local McDonalds for his first ever ice cream cone! I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it and the best part is that, by some miracle, his tummy tolerated it! Ice cream cones have now become a favorite “sometimes treat!”
Here is a video of Jet’s first ever ice cream cone!
