Share Your Favorite Dog Products

I have been spending the past couple of days working on creating a spreadsheet of low sodium dry dog food options, a task that I perhaps underestimated.

So, while I continue to work on that today, I wanted to take a chance to open up today’s blog post to all of our readers!

Share Your Favorite Dog Products

Today, Jet and I would love to know what your favorite dog products are!

We don’t care if you’re a rep. for a company, an ETSY seller or a fellow dog parent who just loves a certain product, tell us your favorite dog products and why they’re so great!

Yes, that means that you don’t just get to do a drive-by spamming, you have to actually tell us WHY you love the product or products that you are sharing!

So have at it! Whether it’s dog shampoo, dog toys, dog beds, dog collars, dog…anything!

I have actually tried da Wellness Chicken and brown rice formula, but I got tired of it. I do like buffalo, and salmon. I am going to tell my momma your suggestions. Thank you so much!

Well as a rescue Rottweiler who is now a Service Dog to my autistic FurEver Home Boy, I love Blue Buffalo dog food. I can only have grain free, and I am very picky, unlike most Rottweilers who will eat anything!

Thanks for sharing! We used to feed Blue Buffalo until their food poisoned Jet 🙁 We think it was mold contamination based on his symptoms.

Omg that is terrible! Maybe my FurEver Home Mama should rethink my dog food. I am quite picky though! What is Jet eating now?

Jet has to be on a low phosphorus, no corn, no wheat diet so right now he is eating Wellness grain free Adult Whitefish and Menhaden fish meal recipe. He has (as he always does after a few months) grown tired of it though so we are going to choose another of the low phosphorus kibble we have listed here: We are also hoping to get sodium information for all of the options on that page so that we can choose low sodium for his heart disease too! It’s hard feeding picky AND allergy prone dogs! I bet your mama would agree!

If I had to recommend one option from that page I referenced above, I would go with the Wellness Large Breed deboned chicken and brown rice formula. This one has the most optimal levels of omega’s AND glucosamine chondroitin so it’s GREAT for the joints. Jet was on it for a while and it did really well for his joints. Unfortunately, again, he got tired of it so we had to switch up a bit!

Tell your mama that I have found that picky dogs almost always tend to tire of chicken based kibble or other “bland” options. In this case, it’s best to go with the stinky foods – fish is best for larger breeds since it provides more joint support. If fish doesn’t sit well or mama can’t stand the smell, buffalo, bison, and venison are almost ALWAYS devoured in seconds. Our favorite exotic kibble option has been California Natural Kangaroo and Red Lentil, but it is quite pricey at around $80 for 30lbs! Right now we are on a lower budget as I’m sure you know! So I’m toying with the idea of Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Sweet Potato and Bison as soon as I can find out their sodium content!

          In summary:
Budget food in a “bland” flavor: Wellness Large Breed deboned chicken and brown rice formula (use the Petco auto-delivery function, set up a new delivery and they usually have a $30 gift card promo. Once you get your first delivery, you can cancel your auto-delivery and you will still receive the gift card. You can actually do this every month as long as they have a promo going and save $30 per bag of food! So after your first bag you will pay around $20 for a 26 or 30lb bag)

Budget food in a stinky flavor: I’ll get back to you on the Natural Balance options!

Expensive food in a stinky flavor: California Natural Kangaroo and Red Lentil (around $80 for 30lbs)

Foods I avoid based on experience – Blue Buffalo brands (Jet was poisoned ) and Taste of the Wild ( a lot of people LOVE their food, but it gave Jet struvite crystals in his urine, a precursor to kidney stones!)
